    Were one of the houses without water in Coneyboro since Christmas Eve, what has maddened me about the whole situation is that two garages in Athy have there car wash's in operation and was up in Newbridge yesterday and saw the same.
    Surely this should not be allowed at the moment

    Many car washes use recycled water, and most (if not all) are metered as far as I know, being commercial premises - so if it's any consolation they're either paying for it or not having a huge draw from the mains supply.

    And Athy
    Sun 2 Jan
    Water disruption and stand-pipe arrangements- Sunday, 2nd January
    Athy Town Council thanks our customers for their patience and understanding of the prevailing water demand situation and the necessity for the Council to apply restrictions to the town's water supply. Regrettably, despite improvements in water pressure and supply in many locations, issues are expected to continue at a number of areas over the coming days.

    A restriction to the regional water supply is now in place (affecting the Dublin and Kildare Road areas) and continues each evening until further notice. Other areas in the town may also experience reduced pressure/ supply, as a result of these restrictions (which are being reviewed on a daily basis).

    Sunday, 2nd January (onwards): Water supply will be turned off on Sunday at 7.30pm to 8am on Bank Holiday Monday (and repeated each day, until further notice).

    The Town Council has made the following arrangements for stand pipes (at various locations) and will update these periodically on its website.

    WATER MAINS ACCESS POINTS
    Water supply points (with taps) from mains supply have been set up at a number of locations throughout the town (subject to water pressure).

    Currently the following 3 points are in operation:
    - Emily Square (corner of Osborne's Solicitors);
    - Coney Drive, Coneyboro, Carlow Road;
    - Fortbarrington Road (outside No. 73 Pairc Bhride).

    The public can access water at these locations each day from 8.30am to 8pm (until further notice).
    NB: As a precautionary measure water from these taps/ tanker should be boiled before using for drinking or cooking purposes. Please bring your own clean water container as the Town Council is not supplying containers.

    CONSERVE WATER & REPORT LEAKS

    The Town Council continues to appeal to householders and businesses to conserve water. We also appeal to consumers to reduce their water consumption and in particular, people are asked not to leave taps running. If every household cuts back on their water usage by 10% this will have a significant effect on water availability and enable us to return to normal service sooner. www.taptips.ie

    Our crew continue to work on identifying leaks and dealing with burst pipes. We are appealing to homeowners and all key holders for businesses, schools, unoccupied homes, etc to check for leaks within their property. (Owners are responsible for repairing leaks on property, but the Town Council is responsible for repairing leaks on the mains supply leading to properties).

    The Town Council is monitoring the water supply situation on an ongoing basis and will provide regular updates on its website http://www.athytowncouncil.ie/ and KFM radio.

    So there's a little more info about Naas today...
    Water, Kilcullen Road area, Naas
    Killashee View, Broadfield View and Esmondale, Naas will have normal water pressure at night time as restrictions apply in the town centre area. They will experience low pressure or loss of water during the day as tanks and pipelines in the town centre fill.

    Apologies to water users in the area for any inconvenience that this may cause. The situation is under review.

    An update from the website for 5 January, nothing really new in it but a little optimism about supplies recovering.
    Water restrictions (reduced pressure) will be in place across the county tonight, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
    While supplies are recovering, there is still a need to save as much water as possible – thanks to all the people who have helped in this way.

    Today's message added to KCC website at 20:00 or so.

    Water Supplies Latest News
    Water supply restrictions will continue tonight and are likely to extend into next week. Water pressure will be reduced from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.; and the effects of this will be most notable on high ground and in areas at the end of pipelines. Restrictions and their duration are reviewed on a daily basis, and it is the council's objective to have them eliminated in the shortest possible time.

    Please note that when water pressure has been reduced, its return is a gradual process, and the supply may not be fully restored in some places until pipes and tanks in areas on lower ground have filled. Depending on local circumstances this can take up to two hours, or more in extreme cases.

    Water Supply Update 10/01/11

    *

    "In order to replenish the reservoirs and control unnecessary leakage, Kildare County Council regret that night-time water pressure reductions will continue throughout the County for the foreseeable future.

    Reductions will be in place from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. until further notice.

    Please note that when water pressure has been reduced, its return is a gradual process, and supply may not be fully restored in high areas until lower areas have first recharged fully. Depending on local circumstances this can take up to two hours, or more in extreme cases.
