Any Advice?

OK so i'm a guy,20 and 6 foot 2. I started going to the gym last June. Started off at 17 stone and i'm currently at 11.5 stone. I have been stuck around this for the past 3 or 4 months no matter what I seem to do. I do weights and about 50 minutes cardio in the gym spread over bikes treadmills, cross trainers, and stairmasters(not all in the same day though). Started back to swimming 30 plus lengths of the pool Friday on top of that cardio(50 meter pool but in a section about 40 meters in length). I've noticed a slight drop in weight since then but that could be fluctuations. Oh and I go to the gym 4 time a week on average, sometimes more.

As for diet i'm on about 1700-1800 calories a day. No chocolate, crisps, fizzy drinks and such. Love my fruit and veg. Usually have an apple and a banana most days unless they are all gone.

Anyway i'm just wondering is there anything I can do to lose about 7 more pounds? Its that last bit of belly fat thats driving me mad. Been doing some serious ab work the last 2 months or so and would rather not see it go to waste stuck behind that last layer of flab.

Jaysus man, fair play! 5.5 stone in a year, thats impressive. I would say just keep doin what you're doin, as long as your diet is strict and your consistently workin out it will shift. 11.2 stone for 6'2" is actually quite skinny i'd say so i cant imagine ur belly fat is very much. Hardest part to get rid of so i'd just say stay the course and it will go evenyually. Have you tried HIIT?

I have heard of it. Tried it for a while a few months back but didn't really notice any difference so I just went back to what I was doing. Yeah I will stick with it just sucks when you are putting in the effort but not getting the results. As for getting to 11 stone according to my bmi I would still be comfortably within the healthy range at about 19.8.

hi,
I too am 6'2'', when I was losing weight I got down to about 11 stone nine and struggled to get it below that, same problem skinny as a rake except for the belly fat.

Where I was going wrong was that I was too light. I took to the weights in a big way cleaned up the diet, more food, more calories, but better food.

I now weigh just under 13stone still a little bit of belly fat but less then when I was a stone lighter I also look better overall with more muscle.

Well I do have muscle aswell. Biceps/triceps are pretty well defined. Got a strong core and legs aswell so I don't think thats the issue.

I agree with farmchoice, 11.5 stone for a 6'2" guy sounds quite light and I wouldn't be trying to lose more weight but instead I'd try adding more muscle by doing more weight training

A car with a big engine uses more fuel than a small engined car. Build more muscle, you will gain weight in muscle but loose fat, 11st at 6'2'' is too light, dont mistake definition for muscle mass, iggy pop is pretty ripped but not exactly the healthiest guy out there. Fair play for loosing so much weight, you must be very disciplined.

Well all i'm interested in is a flat stomach. So maybe I don't need to go down to 11 but still. I am doing weight stuff and I don't think its my apparently low weight thats giving the definition. I have been doing all this stuff for over a year now so it is only natural I would have muscle now.

Everyone has muscles. The bigger they are, the more they weigh. But that has nothing to do with definition. Definition comes down to low body fat, nothing else.

If you are 11.5 stone, at 6'2", you've obvious lost a decent amount of weight of fat. The under lying muscle is starting to show and that's giving some definition. Low fat, and low muscle can still give a pot belly look. The same fat spread over bigger muscles would look much more defined.

There might be a chance that the only place your body holds any fat is on your stomach. I know a guy very lean, but always has big ass & hips (relative) he is very lean & perfect 6 pack, but bit of fat on his hips & ass. Me when I am very lean, like looking a little sick thin, I will always still be able to pinch an inch or two on my stomach. I think the body always stores some fat (until you become sick) somewhere on the body
