I did, and whilst the ending was terrible, pre extended cut, it was the least of it's short comings in my eyes.

Not true at all. In Mass Effect 1 & 2 you controlled everything Shepard said, you could also be neutral in regards to responses, example, the dialogue wheel pops up and you have a top right, middle right and lower right option, in Mass Effect 3 you get two options most of the the time (top right of the wheel and lower right of the wheel) and most of the time you don't even get a prompt!it's just Shepard rambling off without any input at all, how people missed that after playing ME 1 and/or 2 is beyond me, it's what made Mass Effect, Mass Effect.

The Shepard I made in Mass Effect 1, then imported to Mass Effect 2, was gone in ME 3, took over by the canon Shepard BioWare designed. It took me a second playthrough to realize all it's short comings.

No doubt it had some great moments like Tuchanka, ahhh Mordin :'( or Garrus, the man date on the Citadel, but it's bad moments far outweigh the good, for me anyways.

I suppose it might be reasonable to mention that the gameplay was excellent - probably the most important metric when I'm appraising a game.

I'd much prefer great story, characters and dialogue. One of the reasons The Walking Dead is my game of the year, a simple point and click adventure, but it immerses you like no other.

Right, I've let my feelings be known on Mass Effect, love 1 & 2, not so much 3. Heard there was uproar over the Omega DLC, €15 for a 3 hour experience.

Quick one lads. If I play mass effect 1 and 2 on steam will I still be able to transfer my character to origin for mass effect 3?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,274 ✭✭✭Monty - the one and only

yes, my me2 is from steam, save files are in the bioware dir in my documents.... mass effect 1 to 2 was a little odd( fixable though) as far as i remember, dont know if they ever fixed that.

There was some issues with importing over a non default Sheppard (different looking face), but that was fixed iirc.

    Chuffed there is someone else!

I am a little concerned now that I have missed Wrex's armour mission because I have started Virmire.

I did Garrus' mission but do the rest of the squad have personal missions as well?

At the Citadel now for the final push. Will be happy when it is over tbh!

2 and 3 are far superior in my opinion.

Do I need to download an update or be online to import a ME1 character to ME2.

Finished ME1 yesterday and and I wanted to start ME2 with the character but there was no option to do that?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 22,994 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

You need to do the save transfer in the options iirc. Then it will show up in game.

If yer playing on the pc, the option to do it is on the launcher, not in the game. You'll find it easy enough on the options in the launcher, cant remember exactly where it is. But you just point it at your mass effect 1 folder and it'll pick up the saves for use in a new game when you enter ME2

I thought BW were patching PS3 ME2 to include an option to import a save from the newly released ME1.

So they haven't patched it yet?

No, it won't be for a while. I'll download the patch when I get it hooked up again.

    Cheers.

Well, I guess you are stuck until Bioware think up a way of transferring patches to your PS3 without an internet connection!:pac:

Just finished this.. i thought it was excellent tbh. Really enjoyed it.

Donno if it was just the extended endings, but i was satisfied with my ending anyway.

Finally getting around to finishing it.

    Just after finishing the
    Cerberus Base
. Doing the rounds to see what people have to say and I walk in on
Garrus and Tali smoochin' in Garrus'
    room. Brilliant stuff.

I finally got round to this during the week and wrapped it up tonight. A tiny bit late to the party :p Was furious at myself for ending it by
shooting at starchild, I would have gone for the control reapers option.
After looking at the original ending, I genuinely have no clue what the fuss was all about. Maybe I'll get some info by reading back though this, but I've had enough of ME3 for the moment, don't want to think about it anymore.... The whole range of endings with EC and original is fupping exhausting. :o

Really happy with the game overall though, thoroughly enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to moar Bioware. ME 2 & 3 are all I've tried from them up to now.

There was a part of me that had a glimmer of hope that it would be some fancy post-ending DLC but unfortunately, no.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,067 ✭✭✭Gunmonkey

    Details on the MP stuff
Prepare for the Reckoning! Newfound allies join the multiplayer war for survival in Mass Effect 3: Reckoning. The Geth Juggernaut, Female Turian Raptor, Talon Mercenary, Alliance Infiltration Unit, and more take up arms to stop the Reaper threat. Smash your enemies with the Biotic Hammer as you lay waste to the battlefield as the Krogan Warlord.

Wield 7 new weapons for multiplayer, including the Geth Spitfire Assault Rifle, Venom Shotgun, Lancer Assault Rifle, and amplify your arsenal with new equipment and weapon mods featuring the Geth Scanner and Assault Rifle Omni-blade.

Mass Effect 3: Reckoning launches at no additional cost worldwide on February 26th on Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3 (February 27th on PlayStation 3 in Europe).

New MP stuff is always good, wonder who/what the "Talon Mercenary" is? Human or alien? And Krogan with a hammer...oh Bioware, its like you read my mind :D

I haven't played ME in months but did the multiplayer DLC weapons ever wind up in the single player?

The Devs have stated before that they will not be doing that.

Ah, never played the Omega DLC. Another reason to get back into the MP next week.

I think I'm nearly finished the single player. How bad is this ending (without spoilers please)?

We sat again for an hour and a half discussing maps and figures and always getting back to that most damnable creation of the perverted ingenuity of man - the County of Tyrone.

with or without the ending dlc... without is just wtf.... with is better, but still could be better. Though i do believe that there is a happy ending mod floating about

    The ending is an end.

Lots of people don't like it, i felt that the extended cut was a good addition and removed a lot of dramatic cutoff that we all got from the last episode of the sopranos err, ME3

Ah no, get the extended cut and finish it off the way it was ment to be finished.
