I have a 360 for my HD. And a ps3 for my bluray. All hooked up to a 1080 projector :D

But it seems BR or HD drives for the pc are still to expensive, and a waste of money. AFAIK it is a wasted media at the moment, as they are not making games or programs to fit on these discs capicitys. Also, why would you want to watch a BR or HD movie on your pc monitor ? You just wont see much improvement over a dvd. I dind very little improvement untill you go over 32" and a nice big improvement at 70-90". But you will notice better sound using optical with BR and HD.

some people have it all eh:);)

I thought that PC games would be coming out in HD?

Also I have a HD TV with HDMI "in" so I can now play HD quality movies out the back of the GT.

So thats why I was thinking if I got a hybrid player i could watch movies streamed from the PC to the TV.

    see what i'm getting at?

I know LG have one (very questionable though) and I bet you are gonna see a lot more coming soon.

I wonder what drive is in this unit?

PC games have been available at HD resolutions for a good 10 years, being HD or not is nothing to do with the format the game comes in.

Looks like HP are using the LG drive which I read somehwere does not work favourably with the HD menus.."but dont quote me on that"!

Right from what I understand the LG player is in fact a BluRay player that can read HD DVD.
Its the software used to play the disks that matters.
Allegedly PowerDVD ultra can handle all of the advanced features of HDDVD, including PiP/IME.

Ok so if I was to buy two of them separately can anyone suggest which two to go for?

Thought this was a nice write up..

I think dabs have just made a mistake.
    Supported Media Types BD-R BD-R DL BD-RE BD-RE DL BD-ROM CD-R CD-ROM CD-RW DVD+R DVD+R DL DVD+RW DVD-R DVD-R DL DVD-RAM DVD-ROM DVD-RW

    But then it says
Drive Type BD / HD DVD

I bought a blu-ray drive for €180 off overclockers awhile back and have it hooked up to my Dell 30" and I have to says its amazing! My monitor will do 1280 X 800 for HD which is basically the same for a 720P TV

Video quality and sound quality are just top notch its like being in the cinema! Im waiting for awhile before I can get a HDMI - DVI converter to hook the pc up to the tv to see if I can see any difference!

Id say if you have the money go for it!
