Is there any chance of getting info on Psychology and Sociology (LM038)? I got it trough the HEAR scheme and Im terrified already. Help?
By the way, tomorrow all the HEAR applicants are meeting in UL and staying there until saturday, is anyone coming from Cork?
Also, do you know anything about cheap accomodation?

Good luck with the HEAR programme. Its superb craic, I'll see you tomorrow there, as I'm a leader for it.
Dont be terrified, there is nothing to be worried about.
There is lots of off-campus accommodation thats cheap, and you can get a list from the accommodation office in UL.

Regarding the course, the sociology side will be really interesting, and will probably have large essay style projects and then essay style exams.

Oh oh oh´I´m from Midleton! :D
Sorry. Off topic. If you´re actually from there, get used to that looovely bus journey. Takes 30mins to Mallow, 30 mins to Charleville and exactly 30mins to Limerick. Fun.

To stay on topic, any language heads, give me a buzz. And ye´ll all be fine. UL is the best decision I ever made.

Anyone have information on Politics and International Relations?

  • Registered Users Posts: 21 Liam.Carroll00

    Hi everyone,
    Firstly, I'm in 6th year, and I really want to become a soicitor some day. Secondly, I don't do a language and I live in Limerick so really want to attend UL next year. Thirdly, no, I don't want to go to LIT because I think it's just depressing! Penultimatley, I'm not going to get the 440 points currently required to gain enterance to Law Plus. Finaly, (and here comes my question) What level 8 course would be best to complete before applying for a place in the Graduate Law course? Here are some I was considering and also there points requirements;

    Business Studies (385)
    Economics & Sociology (330)
    Politics & International Relations (340)
    Public Administration (330)

    Hi All,

I am in the process of applying for the Postgrad Occupational Therapy course. Deadline is the 5th of Nov. I've shadowed OT's in 3 area's and am preparing my personal statement. Any tips on what may strengthen my application further, what are they looking for really? Also, any help with how to prepare for the interview would be greatly appreciated.

I'd also love to get someone's perspective on the course itself, workload, etc..

    Thanks.:o

I'm just wondering about the PE teaching
    http://www.ul.ie/courses/LM090.shtml

Chemistry, Irish, English, Maths & Geography are listed as the specialist options. I assume you're limited to just those 5, but let's say you're not too keen on them - How would you go about getting qualified in another subject you'd be more comfortable with, like say History?

    Hello,
Im currently in leaving cert. and I've been looking in nearly every college and university for a course that suits me. I was lookin at a lot of B.I.S and I.T. courses as I think I would have an interest in some sort of computer studies. But I didnt like the idea of doing buisness or a course soley based on computers so I kinda gave up on it...I like history and english in school so I looked at HPSS, but I hear its a bit of a doss course so that put me off. Finally I found New Media and English which sounds like the perfect mix. I guess im just wonderin about the course and what are you finally qualified as when you finish?

You will find information about the New Media & English programme here: http://www.ul.ie/courses/LM033.shtml This includes a short interview with a student who took the course and a list of career options. For more detailed queries about the programme, you might email the Course Director at: tina.otoole@ul.ie

    Hi Precious Flower,

I just graduated from psychology and sociology in U.L so might be able to help. I really enjoyed the course, and different to every other college, it had work experience built in, and a study abroad semester too! I didn't find it overly difficult to be honest, managable! The hardest part were statistics, but you don't need to be good to Maths (I'm certainly not!) and I got through them ok so don't worry. It was very interesting, and sociology was an interesting subject to have teamed with psychology. Being good at English helps (as it does with nearly every course!) as there are lots of essays. Anything else I can help with regarding psychology in U.L?

    Hi Michelle,

3rd Years Psych & Soc student here. Would recommend UL over Mary I from the point of view of student life and facilities, but obviously I can't compare courses!

I'm guessing you're a (prospective?) mature student from your post so I'll link the contact details for some of the people with us in Psychology. Get onto Denise Roche, as she's the go-to person for most of our queries in college. Details here.

    Howdy folks,

Im very interested to chat with some student on the course.. those who just began this past January and those in the final year of the course.. (or indeed, any recent graduates of the course)
Im mostly interested in the entrance exams, interview procedure and how they find the course etc.. any info would be great. I live in Galway but would gladly travel to limerick and buy you lunch if you could give me 20 min of your time..

    Thanks a million!

    Ruairi

    Hi there,

I'm interested to speak with someone who is studying/has studied the Grad Dip Ed - Engineering Technology course. I'm looking to start that course next January and am really interested in getting more information about it - particularly the bench tests, the interview process and also about the course itself, post-graduation options etc.
I would like to chat with anyone who just joined the course this past January, those who are in the final year, as well as recent/not-so-recent graduates.

I live in Galway but would happily travel to Limerick and buy you lunch to pick your brain on the particulars for 15min.. any help would be great!
I'm really interested and excited about the course.. I just want to make sure I cover all the bases in terms of getting on it..

If you can PM me or post on this current thread, we can get in touch.

    Many thanks,

    Ruairi
Ps. if you know of any friends who are on/were on the course, maybe you could put them in touch with me also as I would like to get multiple viewpoints.. thanks again.
