Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    hi guys,

    my question is on building control. I am of the belief now that all items used in new builds now need to have a certification or preferably a CE mark. how does building control view the use of a shipping container which obviously doesnt have this.

    They will ask if you are having a laugh or what?
    A shipping container cannot be used as a habitable room in Dublin city at present.

    Good student accommodation by all accounts. Cannot see the difference between container building and some of those fire hazard developments they put up in Dublin in the noughties, except the containers won't catch fire.

    Metal in construction brings it's own hazards : just ask your local fire officer and ask about intumescent coatings...... nightmare.

    My fear would be the unit heating up during a fire and the radiant heat starting fires in adjoins containers and so on.
