Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

back boiler

    Had an extension built..... just wondering if there's a reason why a back boiler can't be fitted to an open fire.... I know that they're inefficient, but as we are having an open fire anyway, i really wanted one. Builder said that it was doable but then told me it wasn't AFTER THE PLASTERING WAS STARTED. I think he was fobbing me off since he didn't want to undo what he had done to fit the boiler.... any guidance gratefully accepted.

    What stage are you at? Has plastering started? Back boiler is possible subject to existing site conditions. Ask the plumber about it.

    IMO you mad to install an open fire, the fuel costs alone will reduce its use, never mind its efficiency . have you heard of global warming? We're trying to reduce co2 emissions .

    If An open fire is a must, research 'fires places with doors'
