    ok bad news is...

If you all recall the picture of the safe in it's unburied state then you will see that the door is a smaller part of the over all top surface of the safe. Well the door consists of four sheets of metal that combined are over a inch thick, so i am never going to drill through that with my electric drill. So the plan was to chrisel down through the concrete to the rest of the roof surface, and drill through that instead.

So i chiseled away but i chiseled at the wrong side and ended up with nothing to drill through, so it was a waste of time. Sorry guys. I don't have time now to go chisel the other side.

I will however ring the locksmith and get back to you.

aww so close...good luck with the locksmith!

This better be a legit safe opening story. I just wasted 25 minutes of work time catching up on this thread.

    Hooked!

Surely there is a locksmith on here willing to take one for the team and do some pro bono work just to put us all out of our misery. (And maybe take 10% of any cash)

I've a feeling the OP is J.J Abrams and this thread will go on and on and on...

...eventually he'll get it open and there will just be a smaller, stronger safe inside.

listen your taking the mick... at this stage anyone that had found a whopper safe and happened to be at home and not at work would have smashed that bad boy up by now.

Your just wrecking everyones heads and here, its annoying becasue if ya PM'd me to give me a good shot of breaking open that thing I would!!

I'm actually genuinely getting annoyed haha, too much free time

    +1 For the boroscope.

Great idea. Will let you know if it's worth your while going to all the effort of getting the thing open or not.

I have a feeling that once this safe is open one of the two things are going to happen.

    1. End of days scenario where all the good are saved and the bad people are damned for eternity - obviously can't back this up with hard evidence but it's just a gut feeling.

    2. The safe is open and we all realise that we all died in a plane crash and have been in purgatory the whole time. This may seem like it's highly unlikely but i remember seeing a documentary about this exact scenario unfolding in a pacific island in the early part of this millenium.

It's definitely one or the other - of this I'm sure. Keep me updated as I'm heading off to bookies to back QPR to win the league this season.

well dont expect to find out.... if its gold yer man is probably going to head to the bahamas, doubt he will be filling us in on boards

I'd say its love letters or something real romantic... from a mistress or someone secret

Right this needs to happen now.

I don't know who you are. I don't know where you are. If you are looking for a professional locksmith, I can tell you I'm not one. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for underfloor safes. If you open it right now yourself, that will be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will break the shit out of that safe.
