Converting from HTPC to SteamPC

    Hi,
    I was looking for some advice whether adding the appropriate 3D video card would turn this PC into something that you could play mid-range games on?

    It's a HTPC that hardwareversand.de built for me back in 2010. Was looking at Steam in conjunction with an Xbox control-pad to play some games on the couch.

    Not sure if the specs below are too low end to begin with?

    Processor is a weak point, you'd be looking at getting something like a Phenom X4 965 if the board supports it, and then a card - not sure what your budget is, but 150 should net you a 7770 and a 965, or a few euro extra for a 7790, either of which would be OK for casual modern games use at reasonable quality, check the board supports cpu's of that wattage first though.

    Is that bequiet pure power for the PSU, or something else?
    You could overclock the CPU to squeeze more out of it. A dual core can get by okay with a lot of games if you push it... depends on the games though.
