Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Options with my Non EU Girlfriend? Can anyone help?

    I've been in a relationship with a girl from South America for just over a year. She's on a Stamp 2 visa which lets her work a certain amount when she is not studying. She will be renewing her visa for the final year in June - so by June 2016 that will be the end of her time. We do intend to get married, but I'd rather not have to do it by Date X just because of a Visa. I'm wondering can anyone offer me some advice around my options.

    I'm told its possible to extend her visa based on the fact we are in a relationship - can anyone tell me more about this? We have plenty of documented history of being together, trips away, photos, facebook etc etc. We are currently living together but she's not on the lease - but I'm going to set up a bank account together and get her put on the bills etc.

    I just need some advice as to whether its realistic that I can extend her visa - what's the best way to go about it - and who can I talk to about starting the process? I presume they just want to know its real and not a scam etc.

    Can anyone please give me some advice? Thanks.

    Ring Immigrant Council Ireland on 01 6740200. They will be able to tell you definitively what the story is. That's a free service by the way.
