Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    So I finally got aroud to getting my open water licence. I can finally wear that diving themed t-shirt I bought years ago after snorkeling without feeling like a fraud!!

    Anyhoo, I'm just looking for some advice about what to do next- where are the best places to dive, what equipment I should buy etc.

    I live in the UAE and really good sites are in short supply apparently. Any recommendations for locations in the vicinity? Bearing in mind that I don't have a tonne of $$$ to blow through.

    I'm thinking about buying some equipment. I don't want to be one of those newbs who turns up the week after hise dive in the best of everything, but I'd like to acquire bits and bobs over time. I noticed my masks on both days of the open water didn't fit too well so I suppose getting a good one would be the first step. Any rec's on that? Also, what should I look for after the mask?

    Also- should I join a diving club if I get the chance? What are the advantages etc? What's the diving scene like in Ireland? Anything else you feel like throwing in...
