Hi all - I have TV Broadband and Telephone connection from UPC. My Desktop is connected to the Internet via Modem . I'm buying a new Laptop and need Internet connections . How ? Will the signal authomatically connect from my Desktop or do I need to input a code into
my Laptop Settings and if so where can I get this code ?

The most appropriate approach would be for me to contact UPC but their customer service ( or lack of it ) makes me believe I'd get a quicker response from boards.ie.

Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks in anticipation. JON.

    Hi Jon,
The network SSID and encryption key are written on the bottom of your UPC box, if it is the old UPC box (not the new Cisco brand) then you will have to buy a wireless router or ask UPC to exchange your router for a wireless one.

    Hi Guys ,

    Thanks for your responses.

My UPC Modem is not wireless - all the connections to my Desktop are attached to the Modem.

I will have to check it to-night to see if its the ' old ' Modem from UPC or
    Cisco.

If Modem is as above - even though there is a number on the bottom of
the box - do I still have to go back to UPC to have it replaced ?

By the way I can't get any sound from my Desktop - otherwise its working
perfectly well - any suggestions ?

Thanks again for your help. JON
