    Oh god yes!!

I'm looking for a wall mount in my new house for the TV. Must see if I can get one that has a vertical option..I guess it's more or less the same as mounting a standard bracket - just so much cooler!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

What truly makes that YouTube video so special is the choice of game. I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this. :P

A rotating wall mount is certainly on my wish list. I wonder if you can get rotating projector screens?!

I have a projector and just painted the wall in my home office with special paint called "projector goo" or "screen goo". So the whole wall is a screen.
Then just pop the projector on its side and you have what ever size/shape screen you want :D

Unfortunately retro consoles do look like crap on any projector I've seen/had :(

Alas no. I've already bought every Cave game available for the iPad including Espgaluda II. I will get it though, and Bullet Soul if it's region free.

For now though I'm concentrating on buying NTSC-J Dreamcast SHMUP'S. I did buy Mushihimesama Futari DLC on XBLA today though. Forgot I had 800 points lying dormant so nabbed 2100 more today and snagged it for my Cave collection. The good woman thinks I have a serious addiction to SHMUP'S though she secretly loves Deathsmiles MBL. :D

Wow, that's cheap! I'll definitely need to pick that up.

ondafly - how's rotate on that thing? Is it possibly/easy enough to do?

Bare in mind that's for the region free Platinum Collection version. Sadly Muchi Muchi Pork & Pink Sweets is still super expensive for my budget and new Platinum Collection SHMUPS appear to be region coded again.

    Which is boring.

Indeed, but try unlocking all the ones after that :pac:

And if you want shmup porn, check out this bad boy. I got one single credit go about three hours before I had to leave Tokyo (after queuing in Hey! Akihabara with the hardcore Japanese shmup fans), and my word the triple screen setup is one of the most spectacular video game related things I've seen.

Yep came across this from Taito's tweet stream a while ago. Looks aboslutely jawdropping. Reminds me a little of a certain other 'grande' SHMUP SMUTFEST.

    THIS.

...and Bully's Special Priiiiiiize.............some crazy Japanese guy went and bought one and documented it here:

Here's a crappy video I made of a more traditional Darius cab if you're interested: http://s1028.photobucket.com/albums/y347/johnny_ultimate/?action=view&current=MOV03314.mp4

This sign still makes me laugh too. I have no idea what it says. I should also point out it was in a toilet for some reason.

its pretty easy actually - lay the cabinet on its back and get a mate to help lift out the monitor and turn it. Obviously disconnect cables etc prior to lifting or you might upset yourself :pac:

fairplay - every time we tried to take a video in any Tokyo arcade; within seconds some arcade worker would come over and give out :pac:

Yeah they're crazy like that. One I got was in some obscure arcade / mostly pachinko parlour in I think Nara I stepped in to to use the toilet :pac: Just happened to be a Darius cab sitting outside.

I have a few pics I grabbed in Akihabara, but would never have risked videoing in the big ones. And some stuff well worth capturing. A guy destroying Ikaruga with both ships, and this absolute looper playing House of the Dead in Joyopolis - shouting and putting on a show for the very amused Japanese spectators. Ain't nothing like Japanese arcades!

Looks like Cave are bathing, nay, soaking themselves in a reservoir full of gold and rubies again. Just stumbled across this trailer which, may I boldly declare, is possibly the perfect video game trailer combination in history.

Why? Easy, the game looks sensational for starters, the trailer features loud, thrashy J-Metal, retina-damaging visuals and best of all... angry Japanese voice-over actors shouting at each other!

This is the Cornetto, no the Calippo of video game trailers I think!

My apologies, forget my last post and watch this instead. :o

I think I'm still having convulsions after watching that...

    There's always Google Goggles?

I'm of the same thought though. I'd love to buy that and Shooting Gameside but at around €25-€30 per magazine, neither of which I'm able to read, it's a bit of a waste.

Shame these mags, and more titles actually, don't have digital distribution. Even if you want to rip non-.jp punters off by charging, say, €5 per digital copy, it's more pallatable than the print prices. The publishers would make a killing and mags like this would thrive.

I've mentioned it before on boards.ie, digital distribution of publications is the future. Especially where niche titles like Shooting Gameside etc are concerned. The market is out there and it's maturing with each day.

I really hope Akai Katana gets a pal release or any way comes about of playing it, I personally prefer hori shmups and it AK looks like one of the best yet. There's a demo on the Japanese XBL btw.

Another great trailer, with DDP theme song!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

*sigh* The Japanese get awesome SHMUP's and fun songs and the best we can come up with is this:

...which was actually done by Andrew Lloyd-Webber.

...and this utter load of old trousers.

I switch between DDP: Resurrection & Espgaluda II on my iPad every day. Makes the commute far more entertaining!

Yep, well, it's for iPhone but you just bump the magnification up. Still runs grand. Wish they done iPad dedicated ones though.

Yeah, I have the iPhone version as well.
Would love a proper iPad version.
I use an app called Retinapad on my Jailbroken iPad that forces iPhone apps to use the iPhone4's higher res graphics on the iPad(instead of the 480x320 graphics doubled like normal). It works well on most apps but I don't even think Espgaluda II is has retina graphics.

I'd love a similar app for non-jailbroken devices.

I used Greenpoision when I first got it and the wait for a jailbreak with each new iOS release got annoying so I lovingly ran back to Steve Job's walled garden instead. :o

    Anyway, back to SHMUP PORN!
