I have an old Irish Punt note serial no. 80J348038, dated 28.6.72

any idea what that is worth? It is in pretty good condition, a bit of red staining on the back but front is in reasonably good shape.

there's only one millenium pound coin, the one with the viking boat on it.

the other one your are thinking of (the 1987 one) is a 50p coin.

I'm wondering does anyone know how much a 1967 Irish £5 Banknote in immaculate condition is worth?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,222 ✭✭✭Irishmaster

Well not too old but are these rare and worth any money at all?

Don't bin them - toss them in to your local charity shop - there's always the chance that someone starting out collecting will want them. :)

Sorry Robinho11, my response there was to stevethefish about his coin. I don't know enough about notes to give you an evaluation. Someone else might be able to help you out there.

it would depend on its condition, immaculate in one persons eyes could be different to anothers, id really have to see it but if it is in unc condition it would be worth ~€45-€50, if it is in pristine bunc condition it would be worth a bit more probably €65,
one in very good condition would be worth €30

No, only the Central Bank will exchange notes and coins but unfortunately the coins must be bagged in set amounts, so you'll always be left over with something. I think the best thing is to sell them to a dealer for face value, or just stick them up on Adverts.ie and ask for a bit more than face. Take the total of what you have and divide that by .787564 to get your Euro face value.

If you can watch a repeat of Sybill and Martin (today) on TV3 website there was a guy on it and he was auctioning a mint ploughmans note for a few hundred. There's an auction in rathmines tomorrow - I wasn't paying much attention.

    HI,

Would anyone be able to point be in the right direction for the next Irish Coin Auction ?

Googled the subject and could not find any specific dates.

I'm looking to buy Irish coins in bulk as opposed to selling them.

    Thanks

Any dealer should be able to get them. There's 2 in the Grafton arcade, Dublin.
