    Pffffffft all this thigh gap stuff is a load of ****e. I'm a big lady, I have no thigh gap, I have big boobs and a brain.
    I haven't been single since I was in primary school. I've never looked for a boyfriend, guys have always pursued me. Good looking guys who also have a brain. They find me attractive and then find out I'm fun be around and talk to.
    I've been happily in a long term relationship for ten years and married for three of those. My husband still finds me attractive and I'm flipping huge and pregnant! (right now he's loudly brushing his teeth in the hopes that I'm awake and maybe in the mood :p )

    Everyone finds different things about different people attractive, it's a load of crap that only one body type is more attractive than another. The only thing in the world that will turn a guy off is a whinge bag, who the hell wants to stay with someone with a face like a slapped arse all the time but in saying that, there'll be at least one guy who'll chance it for a one nighter.

    Thats the issue really size and shape and all that ****e is an arseways subject for everyone men and women because you have one section telling you its wrong to be bigger then average then another telling you its ''Real''.

    Yep - even dress sizes are not a real indicator. 7 people could stand in front of you wearing a size 12 dress - some of them will be bigger than others, some will have bigger hips, some will have a bigger tummy!


    I don't know what "bigger" means tbh. I'm probably bigger, but without a baseline I don't really know.

    No wonder some women are totally consumed with their body image. We shouldn't really care what anyone's preference is, if a slim or bigger women is one man's preference, so what, do you really care? It doesn't effect us.
    I'm not skinny, I don't have the "gap" and I know it may sound shocking but I get plenty of attention from men.
    Also if you're talking about ons etc, looks are usually the only thing someone is interested but if you're looking for a relationship, although attraction is important, in the past I've fallen in love with men who I wouldn't have initially deemed good looking.
    There are lots of men who like bigger women as there are lots of men who like slimmer women, it's not that difficult to comprehend.

    I genuinely think a thread like this is a good thing for body image, it's good to read that you don't need to be a certain way - that different men find different women attractive. Women's magazines try to force us to believe that unless we're "perfect" then we're not, well, perfect.

    Maybe in my naivety I'm missing the negative, but I'm only taking positive from it and I feel a lot better about my wobbly bits after reading this thread I have to admit.

    That's a fair point but it just seems that women's bodies are discussed so much and the thread title suggests that it's shocking to think some men prefer bigger women. It is good to see so many men commenting positively on this thread (about slim and bigger women)

    People are free to have whatever size body they want, but equally people are free to have their own preferences in terms of physical qualities that a potential partner would have.

    It just so happens there are certain physical signals which the majority of men prefer. Smooth skin for example just like a nice gap are physical signals of fertility and health. This doesn't mean most men aren't attracted to bodies without all these signals, but the more signals the higher the chance a man will be attracted and he greater the intensity of attraction.

    it is a bit of a joke I've never seen women talk about mens bodies as much, but Id like to know what size women men are talking about when they say bigger. healthy sizes are whats attractive not overweight people of either gender imo

    To me the girl in the pic whoops posted earlier, while she'd a great set of hips, the thigh gap looks like just that- a weird gap, the poor girl looks bandy legged IMO, I mean, again- it's purely subjective, it just doesn't do it for me, but it does for you, but to try and say your opinion is in the majority based on your own experience, well, that's just wrong.

    Exactly. Of course it's always existed, but it's only in recent years more people have become aware of it as an internet phenomenon moreso than anything actually realistically encountered on a daily basis, the very same as the ass dimples or camel toe phenomenon- it's an internet fad.


    EDIT: After looking at that pic again, it looks like they photoshopped the hell out of it too!

    So one day he left his portable SSD at my place by mistake. While I was getting stuff I need off it, I could not miss out on a 60gb Folder filled with Porn. I like his taste, but he is clearly full of **** about "bigger Girls"... :rolleyes:

    Its a shame I did not did a copy of that folder, there was some really awesome stuff :(

    I just Googled "The history of the thigh gap" and all that comes up is "new craze" "new obsession" "new dangerous obsession amongst teens" so I have to call bull**** on this being an always thing.
    Whereas googling "hour glass figure in women in history" comes up with pages and pages of documentation in history.
    It's not a fertility thing, it's a symbol of starvation and control in the fashion industry. How could it possibly be a symbol of fertility, women wore skirts and covered this area for centuries!

    To be fair, the attractiveness of the thigh gap is completely relative to your personal tastes. It is not a universal. But then is anything??

    Reading through this thread I'm struck by how important women's appearances seem to be to us. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the most body confident myself either, but surely there is more to us than having space between our thighs or a bit extra wobble on our belly? I don't judge men's attractiveness based on their muscles or height, I look for someone who is compassionate, easy to talk to, makes me laugh... Why don't we rate our own attractiveness in the same way?
    Let's face it, physically attractive traits like toned legs or perky boobs aren't going to be sticking with us for very long anyway, in 20 years it'll be their personality that makes you love them, not how they look.
