Hi all,

Pregancy test negative but period late ?

    Hi,
    My gf has a negative pregnancy test negative (home one) but the period is late,
    the period was about 1-2 days overdue before doing the home test - negative,

    could this be a false negative ?

    Hey,
    Her cycle could just be acting up - its normal enough for it to be a few days out either way, or as you said it could be a false negative, if it was me i'd leave it two more days and then test again with a first response test as they are the most sensitive. If her cycles are always very regular then i would wait until its a week late, test again and if still negative id go do the doctor. if ur trying - good luck :)

    My period is 3 weeks late but 2 pregnancy tests last week came back negative. I suspect my cycle is just playing up.
    Is your girlfriend normally regular?
    Is she having any other symptoms?

    It can happen sometimes that the cycle gets longer because of tiredness, stress or high level of prolactin... or other reasons that I haven't heard of yet.
    The pregnancy tests are fairly good nowadays, so I don't think your gf is pregnant.

    We were trying for a baby but I ended up getting the flu and it knocked out my cycle - I thought that I saw positive after 4 weeks but the digital tests that we normally used were negative so I thought that I was imagining it...I was a week late before we finally got a positive test and am 21/22 weeks pregnant now. In contrast our son showed up as a positive on the same digital test just over 3 weeks and is over 10 months old now. It does happen.
