    Nice catch :)

All: I'm updating with all the requests, I just wont reply to them individually. Will prolly only do updates once a day now 'til it's stickified in its own thread (then I'll leave it to the mods).

Here's a link to the full list.

The OpenCD project might be of interest to anybody reading this thread.

Why hasn't this thread been stickied? This is the third or fourth time in as many weeks I've had to go hunting the damn thing down. It's quite handy. Although maybe it's partly the cause of the 4 rebuilds I've had to do lately! Hmm... anyway, can we sticky this?

Here's a good 'un http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/download.html Audiograbber MP3' creator to turn your music on CD to MP3's

Just follow instructions to download and setup encoders into the program. Lame encoder I find is the best.

Couple of handy programs, i thin full versions cost money but shareware is available.
    Diskkeeper
(excellent defragging utitlity, defrags in half the time ms defrag does, and also lets you defrag your swap file which ms defrag WONT do)

Hmm..i was gonna mention partition magic as its incredibly handy but theres no trial version

You can edit MPEGs with it IIRC. It's not a replacement for VirtualDub as some of the features are missing, more of a complement.

    What no iTunes??

The user interface on iTunes rocks, even if you don't use it to buy music.

Plaxo (www.Plaxo.com) is also a great program for keeping your Outlook (and Outlook express) address book up to date.

Mad, haven't seen this thread in a while and just when I need it, it's on the front page. I'll reiterate a request for a sticky of the two largest posts (around page 2 methinks) please. We can then make them uneditable so that the thread doesn't go to crap like the "read this before asking" one.

So whats the best (freeware) programme to use to convert video files (mpg avi, the more the better) to DVD? I had a programme that did it quite well but you could only put either PAL or NTSC files on a DVD, you couldn't put the 2 on the same one unfortunately.

If there is a programme that does this and can also edit videos that would be great.

    thanks

Ultramon - UltraMon gives extra features for running more then one monitor that windows doesn't give like extra taskbars and buttons etc.

If any of you are running more then one monitor I'd highly advise getting this program. And if you are running one monitor and use your computer a lot I'd advise you to upgrade to dual monitors.
