Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Question about Back to Education Allowance

    Hi all, I am posting this for a friend.

    They are currently enrolled in a 3rd level institution and have Back to Education Allowance after having been on Jobseekers Benefit.

    If they get temporary work during the summer months rather than sign back onto Jobseekers benefit, will they be able to re-claim Back to Education allowance?

    Yes. As long as they are back on their regular payment before the start of the college year they should be fine. But it would do them no harm to let the SW know the situation.

    Full time students cannot claim Jobseekers during the summer months. This may be different for people claiming BTEA though.

    Mature students can claim jobseekers during the summer months
