Why is the same colouring scheme used for all the strips these days? It used to be you'd get individual art styles but now it looks incredibly samey. Any reason for this? Back in the day the art style was what differentiated from American comics, it simply looked better but now that difference seems to be gone, it just looks generic. Not sure whether this is limited to the issues I've bought or whether it's a thing.

I'm also disapointed in the Bad Company artwork - I probably look at the first series of Bad company through rose tinted specs but the current artwork isnt a patch on that first series was.

Totally agree, the artwork is horrible, it's like the Beano or something. Brass Sun is on a similar level. Defoe has good artwork, Dredd is generally good but a bit generic at the same time. I would like to see some of the more oil painterly stuff I used to see with Slaine. I remember buying an issue in 2004 and the Slaine artwork was amazing. I would hate to see all the strips now subjected to this generic/bland/corporate-Marvel/DC style of artwork.

Gregg Staples said on his Facebook page a few months ago that he is not doing the painted pages for a while, It just takes too much time to finish.
On he general point of the art being "Samey" I totally agree with you, But this is a cyclical thing I find with 2000AD, Every page blends into the next for a year or two, Then someone new comes on board and reignites the whole thing. Hopefully the wheel will turn and the good stuff comes back.
As an old time fan, I still love when the old guys make an appearance, Carlos Ezquerra, Ian Gibson and Cliff Robinson to name a few.
I think its still blazing a trail in a universe with DC, Marvel and Image. They can also be very samey, Especially when they use Japanese influenced Manga artists.

Here are some links to the lads on facebook. Drop them a line, I find that they like to hear the opinions of Comic fans.

The Christmas issue was a massive improvement in terms of artwork, the ABC Warriors colouring was exquisite but wtf were they thinking when they decided to turn it black and white with the new issue?! It seems that it's all coloured judging by the tones but they've decided not to print that for some bizarre reason, it's the best looking strip at the moment. If they wanted to save on costs they should have selected the weakest one (the one about the bugs and the futuristic Australians).
