A new site wide change to the terms of use has been implemented.

Any newly registered poster or any existing member with fewer than 50 posts will NOT be able to post pictures, images, links, etc, etc. For the most part this will not hinder day to day posting/interaction on the fora. However it does have the knock on effect of prohibiting anyone that falls into this category from posting a for sale advert as pictures are mandatory.

This is a site wide change, and anyone that falls into this category should be getting a notification to inform them of it. However as some are either not getting this notification, not seeing it, not reading it or simply not understanding it the Mods thought it best to post this notification as we have received numerous messages from people asking where their pictures went.

For the majority of people this will not effect them. For others it may be a slight inconvenience but only until the 50 post mark is reached.

We apologise for any inconvenience but it was a necessary step.

    Mod Team.

This is not the shooting mods decision. We had no input into it. This applies to all Mods of all fora. After hours, Farming & Forestry, Animal & pet issues, Nature & bird watching, etc, etc. IOW any of the 1,000+ fora and hundreds of Mods.

I cannot go into detail of the reasons why this rule was implemented, but trust me when i say there was a very good reason for it, and all the mods (of all fora) support it 100%.

Because of this we have no say in any of the limitations this causes. There is a notice that appears for any poster with under 50 posts, however this notice was either not appearing, was not seen or simply not understood and the Mods were receiving many PMs asking why pictures were not showing, and threads not appearing. To prevent this constant PM exchange we thought it best to provide a forum wide notice.

The only reason i bring up the for sale section is this is where this new rule will have the greatest effect. The shooting mods have never imposed a post count limit in order for a person to advertise their items. For the very reason you said JR. Lads would flood the place with nonsense posts in a bid to raise their post count only to advertise. However this issue is somewhat beyond our control. IOW as the rule is imposed site wide we must work with it.

We made pictures a mandatory feature of the for sale section for a couple of reasons:
It stops people asking for them
It shows exactly what is being sold
It shows the condition of the item being sold
It raises the chances of selling when people can see the item

Lastly this forum is first and foremost a discussion forum. The for sale section was put in place to help our members sell items that normally cannot be sold elsewhere. There are a number of people that use the for sale section solely. There are also people that sign up simply to advertise and take no part in the discussions. This will return the forum to a more discussion orientated place. Any new member or lads with fewer than 50 posts can take part for the couple of days/weeks it takes to make the 50 post limit and then they are free to advertise what they like. As the rule is new it may be amended in the future, but for now it is what it is.

The mods will keep an eye on the various fora for the foreseeable future to try and prevent random posts in an attempt to build up their post count. Like every other aspect of the fora we rely on our members to help make the forum what it is.

I hope this answers many of the questions as to why this is happening.

I'm bumping this up as there are a lot of adverts, and posts were people do not have the required 50 posts to post images, pictures or links.

Please read the notice before posting if you fall into this category.

Important update - Please do not ignore.

In the last week the Admins have changed the requiremens for new users. The minimum amount of posts necessary to post a picture is now 25 and NOT 50. This will allow people to make use of the for sale section earlier as well as join in on threads such as the firearms picture, hunting picture thread, etc.
