Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    I'll be going to college in September (girl) and would love to take up hockey. I've never played before though (apart from unihoc but I don't know if it's similiar), so would any clubs or college sports teams want me to join? Are there any important things for hockey? I'm not that fit at the moment so I'm going to work on my fitness this summer, but is there anything else I could do?

    I'm guessing you mean field hockey?

    There's plenty of clubs in Dublin. As well as in the colleges. You should have no problem just turning up at all if you want to play. We all have to start somewhere.

    Where are you based - clubs all over Dublin, many will accept beginners. Try www.leinsterhockey.ie for Club contacts. You might want to go for one of the bigger clubs which take beginners - Pembroke Wanderers, Railway, Loreto HC to name a few..
