It was banned in the 80's

It had a time and a place. It doesn't anymore as people that it was relevant to are (fortunately) dying off. :pac:

Does anybody listen to it on this isle?

I turn on the radio ( no mp3 these days :o ) and I hear everything but the rebs. Why? Does our history not matter?

I'll give you an example of the music we're lacking. Is it illegal or what?

Mods: Trying to get a general opinion on this.

Now now, don't say things you can't take back!

It went out of fashion in most places when things settled down up North.

Probably be more likely to hear it in Glasgow or the Bowery these days.

There's enough decent trad / mixed genre music out there without constantly recycling the same old tired hate-pieties.

Less of your sensibleness in here

Edit: I do think it's better though.

Yes, I listen to rebel music now and again. Much rather it than Jedward, Justin Beiber or whatever it is that is passed off as music today.

Would love to know what songs you lads have based your opinion on.

Great songs in every right in my opinion, all by Eire og. You'd never hear them though.

Nah wouldn't be into the songs. Some are catchy but that's about it. Ill stick to proper music

Should there be a Godwin's law dedicated to Justin Bieber?

I am not defined by my country.

That's what annoys me. Either it's good music or not. Nothing to do with being "proper"

Just because people don't like trad doesn't mean they listen to Justin Bieber.

Different strokes n'all that jazz. Actually, no. F*ck jazz. I hate jazz.

The OP was talking about not hearing trad on the radio. Reading the OP is helpful sometimes.

I don't know. It just seems unpopular to like this genre of music.

Why, I haven't a clue. I'd love to find out though, hence the thread..

In my experience rebel music is mainly listened to by armchair republicans who'd jump out of their skin at the sound of a starling's fart.

I think it's the "you needed to be there" factor. Especially with this genre. It doesn't do anything for me as I dislike Irish music. But sure I don't really judge anyone who likes it...............despite my sarcasm.
