Berlingo Wipers not working

I'm attempting to fix a problem on a '02 old shape Citroen Berlingo. The wipers won't operate at all with the switch in any position.
Firstly I checked for a blown fuse but couldn't find any that were blown. There is no diagram on the reverse of the fusebox to indicate which one pertains to the wipers so I checked over all of them.
I substituted the switch for one that is known to work, but no joy. I checked for power at the motor but nothing...
Is there a relay governing the wipers and if so, where can this be found?

    Thanks in advance..

A quick search into the archives found this thread. A comm 2000 reset fixed the problem.

I'm not so sure if the van is comm 2000 equipped?

I saw a picture of a comm stalk on ebay and it's a combined indicator/ wiper switch. On the van I'm fixing, the wiper switch is not combined with the one for the indicators.

Btw, the washer works but the wipers do not, regardless of switch position.

Are you 100% sure you are not getting power to your wiper motor?

I have seen a good few of these come in with knackered wiper motors where they would barely be able to wipe the window.

If you are sure that the switch you changed worked before hand and that there is defo no power coming to the motor you will need to check for a wiper relay. It will more than likely be behind/beside the fuse box

I have a Berlingo (01) and I can confirm that the wiper behaviour
on this vehicle is (how shall I put it politely?) a little 'quirky' to say
    the least.
    -
Instead of the good old-fashioned ON/OFF/INTERMITTENT arrangement
that served generations of vehicles, Citroen have decided to get all
clever and computerise the system so that it recognises the van speed
and the setting of the wiper switch and then 'computes' what to send
    to the motor.
    -
The problem, of course, is that the French are actually far from clever
and this whole setup is an absolute nightmare to use and, if a fault
develops, there seems little that one can do except take it to O'Sullivan
and Hansbury's and hope for a lotto win to pay their invoice !
    -
The wiper 'switch' is, in fact, a microprocessor unit which is supposed
to communicate flawlessly with all the other little chips in the van.
Yeah, right ! Believe that and you'll believe in little green men from Venus.
    -
My van presently works fine on 'FULL SPEED' setting (which I presume
diverts full drive voltage to the motor so that it's a kind of fail-safe)
but the other switch positions are something of a gamble. Occasionally,
if the wipers have been running 'FULL' for a while, I can get it to pick
up again on 'SLOW', which it sometimes continues to do for several
minutes (if I'm lucky), but then the wipers simply stop again and it takes
another kick on 'FULL' to get them moving. 'INTERMITTENT' does nothing,
even after a kick on 'FULL'. The 'WIPE ONCE' (down) setting likewise
    draws a blank.
    -
In an otherwise useful and well-behaved vehicle, this wiper system is
its Achilles' Heel. It is a glaring example of them having tried to re-invent
an otherwise simple function and making a complete b****x of it.

    Hi Chris,

It seems that you are in the exact same position as I was. Only mine failed completely. In my case, the easiest way out was to hard-wire the motor direct from a fused ignition feed and run it through a separate flick-switch on the dash. It was a royal p.i.t.a. but was the easiest way out of bother. You're spot-on about the over-complication. In my opinion it is a crazy way of doing things and makes me wonder if "progress" is a step backwards

Rumour has it that the cause of the module to fail is because of a poorly sealed replacement windscreen allowing damp in.

I also found the citroen dealer locally to be dire. I contacted them when the wipers were playing up and asked the storeman to print off a screenshot of the fusebox so I could identify the relay (which turned out to be non-existant).
After about 20 mins of pacing the showroom I leaned over the desk to see what he was doing only to my horror to see him sketching out the screen with pen and paper.

    :D:D

have seen alot of these with the same problem and normally its a fault in the BSI [internal fuse box].
it can replaced with a used one but it must be reprogrammed unless you get a matching bsi, engine ecu and key from a donor vehicle.

yes think i got a bsi problem

    Hi Chris,

Thanks again for this post. I was wondering if the status of your Berlingo wipers is still the same, whether they have stopped working, or if you have managed to get the other speeds working again.

    Cheers,

    Ray
