So the concrete barrier is reinforced with two strands of metal wire. Is it enough? Is it somehow fixed to the ground apart from its own weight?
Last year there was a nasty accident on M25 when lorry broke through the concrete barrier. It looked that it was easily shifted from its location and broken into segments. I'm not sure if they used wire inside the concrete here in the UK.

Here's a video on this slip-forming...you can see the cable tensioned as it goes in....so I would say the cable would help avoid the vehicles crossing even if the concrete is smashed...

I hit the one on the M8 at Cashel heading southbound about 11 years ago and it only cracked it and that was head on at 90kph.

No lane closures or disruption when the median grass requires cutting = win win.

Great weekend's work M17, nice to see such progress with the fine weather.

They are designed to deflected a vehicle approaching at less that 45 degrees back towards the same Lane, the first point of contact is your front left wheel with the lower edge without damaging anything.

Looks good as it crosses the M6. Pity about the shooting fish in a barrell Garda enforcing the 80KPH long after the site workers have gone home!
