Or just like her white GSD daddy.

7 weeks old, too young to be taken from her mother, but hey, lets not let a little thing like that bother us, you've got a wolf hybrid, you're just so cool.

In fairness that post is a bit much. Can ya not just leave the person to enjoy their dog?

Sometimes if you don't have something constructive to say, you're better off saying nothing.

Please tell me which part of my post is a bit much? They've taken a puppy away from its mother too early, so the dog may well have problems due to lack of socialisation, including not learning bite inhibition.

Look through the board, you'll see plenty of threads on people wanting to get wolves and wolf hybrids. I think you'll find I'm not alone in my views.

Do you really think that its right for wolves to be domesticated like this? Although, I doubt if it is a wolf anyway, but the only reason that people want to get a wolf hybrid is because they think it makes them look cool. I'm open to correction on that one, if you or anybody else can please tell me another reason, I'd be really glad to hear it.

i got my fella 7 weeks ago at 5weeks old. the pups were draining the mother out completely so he had to let them go. i'v no problem with his biting. he's very friendly and playful and submissive with any dog he meets

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,000 ✭✭✭andreac

5 weeks is far too young, whatever about draining the mother, they should have been left with their littermates for another few weeks, they would have been nearly weaned off mum anyway by then so they should deffo not have been taken away at 5 weeks, thats awful:(

You have no problem with his biting because hes only 12 weeks old, wait until hes 12 months old then you may have a problem!!
5 weeks is way too young, if they were draining out the mother then they should have been separated from the mother, but not from each other. How do you mean submissive with every dog he meets, do you mean he is cowering or hes just generally friendly with other dogs?

Look guys, I've been rescuing dogs for years, I didnt get a wolf hybrid to be cool, its so that people who dont have the facilities, the knowledge(or ppl who think its cool), dont have the oppurtunity to use her for breeding or other iditoic "cool" purposes. I love my dogs, no matter what breeds they are, I have the facilties, the knowledge and I know for a fact that the puppy is better off with me thatn with some dude who thinks he's cool and uses the dog for breeding or for looking good in front of his friends.

Im getting great enjoyment from her, and she adores me, and she gets on fantastically with my other dogs.

She's not a fashion accessory and neither are any of my other dogs!
Dogs are for life, not just for an outfit!!!

Please understand that she is extremely well cared for and minded, and 7 weeks old is perfectly fine to take a pup from their mum, they had been weaned for 2 weeks previous to that. I go to a dog club 3/4 times a week with my dogs and as soon as my little missus has her second lot of injections, she'll be getting just as socialized and will be just as well balanced and well socialized as my other dogs.

I really dont get dogs to look cool, no matter what breed they are, all of dogs so far have been rescues, and each and everyone of them is loved with all my heart!

Oh and I meant to say thanks to the people that stuck up for me and my little missus, and thanks for not judging me or making assuptions, it shows me that there actually are people out there who dont constantly think in the negative!

    Thanks guys!!!

I apologise if I misjudged you, but 7 weeks is too young for a pup to be taken away from its mother. I had also read back over some of your other posts before I replied to you, again, sorry if I'm misjudging you, but weren't you selling a dog a while back. I don't always think in the negative, I'm a very positive person, but I'm also a very concerned person when I see people buying hybrids of wild animals. There is a school of thought that if puppy farmers aren't supported, they will cease to exist.

I wasnt selling a dog awhile back, someone was looking for a st.bernard or irish wolfhound, I happened to know someone who who wanted to sell theirs so I made an offer to the person on boards. I was trying to help two different people, someone looking for a home for their st.bernard, and someone else looking to rehome one.

The family I bought her off weren't running a puppy farm, they had 3 dogs, rottie's and a wolf, and that was it, I saw their facilities and he screened the buyers very carefully. I met both parents of the puppy and they were very well balanced animals. Very well trained and not abused or anything, well fed, well exercised and all that.

As I said before, I've done some work for the GSPCA, rehoming, home-checks and fostering and I would know if the facilities are suitable for them or not, or if it was a puppy farm. Please trust me, it wasnt. Thanks!

Again, I apologise if I've misunderstood you, but you seem to be contradicting yourself. If the breeder was screening buyers very carefully, then surely she wouldn't have ended up with someone without the facilities and who thought it was cool etc?

We all have our opinions, and in my opinion anyone that is selling a hybrid of a wild animal - if it is a wolf that they have - is breeding irresponsibly.

What do you mean? We are having a discussion, on a discussion board, I am replying to her posts, she is replying to mine.

And you are continuing forcing your opinion.

You know what, fine. I thought this was a discussion board, didn't realise that I wasn't entitled to discuss something with somebody. I really don't see how I am forcing my opinion on anybody, if thats the case then surely every single person that ever posts on here is forcing their opinion.

Grand, ban me if you want to, no problem whatsoever, great to see free speech is alive and well on boards. Seriously though, some of the things that are written on here, and I'm getting warned for this.

But then you're the boss, so bye bye

There is no free speech on boards.ie.

If you want speech speech on the internet set up your own forum.

no he runs up wagging his tail and licking their face and then he'l roll onto his back still wagging and roll around on his back until the other dog is finished sniffing him and is ready to play. the older one is like that too(13monthss old)

read all the advice on these threads and talked to IKC about finding a good breeder for bichon frise.
They gave me the number of the Bichon Frise Club who refused to discuss saying there might be legal implications etc! Madness!
So basically I cannot find a reputable bichon frise breeder....
I have seen many ads on Donedeal.ie and am going to see a pup next week. He will not be ready for a few weeks so won't be taking him if not happy with surroundings and condition of his mum etc.

The IKC DID tell me that any pup who is microchipped has seen a vet and is therefore 'healthy' - this seems a bit too good to be true. Also- how can it be proved that a pet is microchipped - should you expect the vet records?

The breeder is from Wexford and promises vaccinated, wormed, microchipped and IKC registered pups to be taken from 9 weeks only. Does anyone think this seems genuine (without seeing the pup of course which I am going to do).

The breeder also has a similar breed advertised; is this necessarily a dodgy thing?

    Thanks for advice.
