Sharing broadband via WiFi

Could someone please advise - I have a small commercial venture with a good broadband connection which I then use to provide a good Wifi connection to my phone and my family's phones when they are in the premises. But I would like to be able to share this Wifi with others while on the premises. Rather than just give out my Wifi psw, how can I set up something like what I've come across myself on occasion ie. a sort of welcome page where would be users of my Wifi give some of their details before logging in? Or is this something I need to try to get from my internet provider?

What you're looking for is Wi-Fi hotspot. How well up are you on networking, a hotspot would require advanced IT skills to configure. There are companies that specialise in this. Lots of routers allow a simple guest network which may be more what you need. No provider will help as it's not their responsibility, it's your own internal network which they will not get involved in

Look for somebody that can supply you with a configured "captive portal + AP".

Easy way......... ( with next to no knowledge required).......

    buy one of these :

    http://www.openmesh-uk.com/index.php?cPath=21

plug it in, wait a few minutes for it to sort itself out

you should now be able to pick it up on a tablet or a phone or something

when thats working you can customise it a bit

eg: call it Bobby04's wifi , set up the "welcome page"

    Hi Bobby04,

I would recommend Cisco Meraki access points. ( http://meraki.cisco.com/ )
I have seen them work in small and large companies and provide a large set of features.
You can set up a guest network which will allow customers to access the internet but this network will be separate to the LAN so there will be no risk of your LAN computers being compromised.
There are many Sale rep's around Ireland, If needed I can put you in contact with one.

you can get Merakis for free sometimes, can't beat that

then throw them in the bin when the timer runs out and they start asking for 150 bucks a year

    gctest50,

That is correct. However like everything else cloud based if you don't pay the license/ subscription the service stop.
If you look at the features provided this is a small cost to pay.
Some of the major ones are:
The device is always up to date and has a Life-Time warranty.
