If wiki is to be believed then the first game in the series was released this day 25 years ago. Happy Birthday!

Just before Xmas? them smart buggers :D

When alls said and done, and the series definitely has had its flaws, its done alot of good things, and if my thread this year was anything to go by, holds fond memories for many :)

Impressive for a gaming series to have kept going this long :)

Why? It's still a highly profitable franchise.

We sat again for an hour and a half discussing maps and figures and always getting back to that most damnable creation of the perverted ingenuity of man - the County of Tyrone.

One of the strengths of the Final Fantasy franchise is that each installment is very different from the last, sometimes drastically so. Complacent is one thing FF isn't and it has the ability to change drastically from one iteration to the next. so even if fans aren't happy with a previous game in the series the next one will be different. It's not like CoD where the fan base would notice the slightest difference.
