I was wondering would anyone have any info about doing European Studies as part of a BA international at undergraduate level? I've had a look on the website but I'm getting a bit lost.

I want to end up doing journalism so I was thinking law or BA international with European Studies, History, German and English but i honestly have no clue and would love some advice. Is there anything i should know about these courses?

    Thanks!

For BA European Studies you do 4 subjects in first year (including European studies and at least one language). For second year you do 30 credits in European Studies and 30 credits of language (20/10 if you want to do 2 languages in second year). You spend all of third year in the country of your language. Fourth year includes a 10,000 word dissertation (10 credits), a choice of modules (20 credits) and your language (30 credits).

But what does the course involve? I know it's focused on the eu but is it like junior cert cspe in greater detail ? I know that sounds stupid but I'm lost..

Also the does the course include a language or must I do it as another one of my 4 arts subjects?

The first year European Studies modules focuses on the economics, history and politics of the EU. In second and fourth year you have a broader choice of modules in these areas eg. Western European Politics, International Relations, Economic change in Europe.

The 30 credits of European studies does not include the language, you choose the language as one the other subject from first year on.
