He claims to represent us yet he can't even meet the minimum number of days attended in the Dáil!!

Epic failure, he should be ashamed of himself

Willie O'Dea is long past his sell by date.

The man has absolutely no concept of shame.

All he seems to be interested in is publicity for himself.

In the last couple of weeks he has appeared in the Limerick papers complaining about dogging, attacking facebook & claiming he was offered a part in RTÉ's Celebrity Bainisteoir, as well as appearing in the Concy Ryan video.

It would be far better if he just attended the Dail and did the work he is paid for.

Willie O’Dea comments on "dogging" in Limerick
    Categories: News
According to Vincent Browne, Willie O’Dea did not was not interested in appearing on his recent special about Limerick Regeneration. Yet Willie O’Dea seems to have time to provide quotes to the Limerick Leader for a story about “dogging” in Limerick.

The newspaper story is about a website which allegedly details “dogging” locations in Limmerick. Seems like a strange sense of priorities for a Limerick TD as the city goes down the tubes. But then again O’Dea was never going to let Vincent Browne hold him accountable for his political record. O’Dea favours cosy one-on-one interviews and generlly avoids panel discussions and serious interviews. Far easier to try get a few lines of cheap publicity in a non story in the local media.

According to the Limerick Leader “”Local TD Willie O’Dea has described the website and its activities as appalling”. “This is absolutely illegal and I think the Gardai should look at this to see if there is the commission of a criminal offence- if so – if somebody is doing this, there should be somebody held responsible” he told the Limerick Leader. “It is hugely distastful,” he added”

Its not half as distastful Willie as the legacy of unemployement bequeathed on Limerick City by yourself & your cronies in the last FF government. What about somebody being held accountable for that?

They're paid their expenses in advance?

Jesus wept. Front page - Slow news week at the leader or what?

Edit - the expenses thing is valid news - rabble rabble shock horror over the other thing is a bit mad!

You've saved me typing a post as those are precisely my thoughts. I suspect we'll see a lot more of these "O'Dea criticises..." articles on irrelevancies* during the rest of the year to retain a public image when turning up for Dáil sitting days would be more in line with what he's getting paid to do.

*An internet site listing "dogging" locations around Limerick is hardly news to begin with. Certainly not worthy of a splash across the front page. However, a local TD having to repay prepaid expenses due to sub-par attendance is news and certainly worthy of somewhere on the front page. Particularly given O'Dea's part-defence, which is that he "withdrew from public life" (but continued to draw his TD's salary) after his resignation, itself caused by his telling porkies about an interview conducted with a journalist from the Limerick Leader itself. Whether O'Dea and the Leader have made up and are now kissing cousins (where O'Dea will give all the "I condemn..." quotes they can eat) should be irrelevant when deciding on important news.
