Well it was a long time coming but here we go! :)

But first, a few ground rules

    Current Moderators: Poxyshamrock, angeldaisy

    Edu CMods: Bobblehead Panda, spurious

General Boards rules apply as always. Read the FAQ and Terms of Use at the bottom of the page for more.

    Advertising
No advertising or pimping of products and/or services.

    Accomodation
Please don't start threads saying you've got a brilliant low-rent house 2 minutes from the college available. An accomodation sticky can be made if requested.

    SU Elections Campaigning
Not allowed here. It's lazy, annoying, exploitative and will descend into dross. Try getting out and talking to people instead.

    Innapropriate abusive language
Use of inappropriate abusive language will not be tolerated, in any form. Outbursts of personal abuse be it directed at other board members or at students in general is strictly prohibited. Posts will be edited/moved/deleted as we see fit and bans and/or infractions issued to the poster of such. The basic rule is keeping it civil; you can have disagreement without resorting to personal abuse

    Violence
Advocating violence is just not on. Posts containing violence/advocating violence will result in an infraction or ban depending on the extremeness of the post.

    Spamming
Multiple- and Cross-Posts will be deleted, you will be banned for repeat offenses and the thread may be locked. Plus it's annoying for everyone else. Don't do it.

    Mid-Thread Conversations

Banter is fine, but keep your posts related to the topic please. There is a PM function for a reason.

    Pornography & Extreme Graphical Posts

Users in this forum may be accessing this forum from college computer labs or from work.

    Lecturers
Do not name, identify or refer to lecturers or other college staff. If you don't understand why, sit down for a minute and figure it out.

    Questioning mod actions on-thread
If you have a problem, PM the Moderators of this forum with your query or complaint. Don't do it in thread!

In the rare instance where contacting the Moderators doesn't deliver a satisfactory resolution, please reconsider the validity of your position before escalating.

Please report any posts you think a mod needs to review using the Report Post function ( on the side of each post). Mods can't read every post so posters are relied on to bring something to a moderator's attention.

Disputing bans and/or infractions go through the DRP, otherwise post in the Helpdesk for other queries/problems.

Moderator discretion applies. This charter is subject to change so please keep an eye on it.

    MISU Representation Added 25/4/2012
Mary Immaculate Student Union is currently represented by the MISU Office account. We can’t have anybody and everybody coming on here claiming to be representatives of the SU, be this a welfare or a societies officer. As a result, any poster claiming to post on behalf of the Student Union will be in breach of this charter. This is the case even if you are genuinely who you claim to be. If an exec chooses to post through the MISU Office account, they should state this in their post. It would be best if the MISU account didn’t appear to have multiple personalities.

MISU Office represents, you guessed it, the MISU Office. Not the college or its authorities. Don’t take anything they say to be the official college management line (though most if not all the time it will be the same). Neither should whoever is posting using the MISU Office account purport to represent the college on any issue.

While certain individual cases might be dealt with by the MISU here, please be aware that any potentially libellous or inappropriate topics may have to be deleted. This is a means of contacting the MISU anonymously, but this does not give you free reign to post whatever you like. That’s for the protection of the site – not the protection of the college or the SU from your views.

This forum is pretty unique in having an official SU representation (at the time of posting this at least), so this is under review. Don’t abuse the privilege!

    Thanks,
    Poxyshamrock.
