Hi, I missed the original "sign-up" thread. I'm mad to get back into soccer this summer but the fitness isn't great so I'd be happy to play half a game or whatever if the numbers work out awkward?

I dont mind where or when, I'll play.
    im in!!! :)

first time ever id say as a girl asking this, what do i wear?

are tracksuit and runners ok? or should i get astro boots?

  • Registered Users Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Astro Boots would be preferable but runners are ok too as log as its not bucketing down with rain then youd find it hard to keep your balance.

I'm going propose that we wear red or white for 1 team and blue or black for the other team.

I assume we can all dig out at least one jersey/T shirt with them colours. :P

I'll post up teams there now and what colour to wear.

    Southside Monday
    I'm confirmed :D

This is on the Highfield site re: footwear
Where possible, always utilise rubber moulded studs or rubber blades. These are the ideal types of footwear for rubber filled (3G) fields. The length and amount of these studs/blades on the footwear depend on the players weight, height, playing style and condition of the playing surface. It is important to know that each player will have his or her preference.

It is not advised to use footwear which make use of metal studs, blades or spikes. Any footwear that may damage the fibers of the playing surface is not allowed at any time.

The use of flat soled footwear or training shoes is not recommended. These types of footwear will only flatten the fibres and make the surface more difficult to maintain.

For the map-phobic among us, when you're heading westbound on the Model Farm Road (towards Ballincollig) it's left at the first set of lights (adjacent to the Rendezvous pub), second right, second left and you're there.

if I go on foot from the city centre what is the best route?

  • Registered Users Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Where exactly in the City Centre?

  • Registered Users Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Google Maps estimates that it's a 50 min walk from Patrick Street to pitches if you head out the Western Road, that's the route it says use.
