Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Upgrading Ubuntu 10.10

    Hello,
    I have an Asus netbook bought in 2012 (I think the model is 1015PX) with Ubuntu 10.10 installed.
    I know it is no longer supported :(. Things is, when I bought it, the support on it had just ended (I was not told this by the shop :mad:, but anyway...) and I only found out later.
    I have read that the only way to upgrade is to move to each subsequent version, to the latest.
    I am not technical at all and will not be able to do this on my own.
    My question is (hope that's OK to ask here :o): do you know if it is a costly (in terms of time) job, in case I decide to pay someone who knows about Linux to do the upgrade?

    Upgrade, best bet is a clean install and a save of your home folder files etc, and then put back on. Should only take half an hour. Find a young relative or somebody that can burn the latest ubuntu image to a cd/usb and do it for you. Its a simple process, dont waste money on paying somebody for such a trivial thing. ;)
