Any further suggestions/modifications can be PM’d to one of the mods.
Usual Boards.ie rules apply here and in addition:

    1) Read the FAQ

Please please please read the FAQ before you post a question. The FAQ contains solutions to queries that always come up on this forum, so it’s quite possible that the answer to your problem is in it. Any posts that ask for a solution to a problem that is within the FAQ will be deleted.

    2) If you are asking for advice on a new build

Please include as much information as possible on what you expect the computer to do, what you will be using it for, and any special requirements you have (e.g. a tape drive, linux compatibility). Don't just post up "does this spec look ok". Try to be specific; don't say things like "has to have plenty of space". That means nothing. Instead say something like "I'd like to be able to store 2 hours of DV footage, or 200 ripped DVD’s". Include a definite budget that you are not going over and what the budget covers (i.e. core build, new monitor, OS, peripherals...).

    3) Discussion of illegal activity will result in a ban.

There won’t be any more warnings. Just banning and post deletions. Discussion of illegal activity (warez, cracks, where to download copyright material, etc) puts this whole community in danger of being shut down, so it won’t be tolerated.

    4) Unhelpful and malicious comments

Unhelpful comments (e.g. "OOOGAABOOOOGA WHERE DA WHITE WIMIN AT) may result in warnings or even short bans depending on the severity of the disruption caused. Malicious advice and misinformation spread in order to troll or disrupt users or the forum, or worse to attempt to shill and/or encourage the sale of severely overpriced, scalped, stolen or illegal goods is a far more serious offense and can result in lengthy or even permanent bans from this forum and possible referral of the perpetrators' accounts to Boards.ie administrators.

    5) Thread Titles

The mods reserve the right to retitle a thread if it is offensive or does not accurately reflect the topic of the thread.

    6) No Fanboyism

Safe to say that people posting here are interested in building their own computers so we can do without the *insert PC manufacturer name here* bashing so long as there isn't an overwhelming excuse for it - I won't blame someone whose jaw drops when shown appallingly bad "complete" systems from eBay or Ankermann, or looks despairingly at yet another non-upgradeable Dell BTX-box and curses the gods, but lets keep any dry comments about said to a minimum please. Also fanboyisms like "ATI is crap" without being able to support your opinion is a no no. All we care about here is what boasts superior price-to-performance for the intended task.

    7) Discussion of building DVD duplication machines

This topic is completely forbidden due to piracy concerns any thread created related to this topic will be instantly locked. And yes, we know what model drives can be used for duplicating console discs so may God have mercy on all those who try to go hunting for them specifically...

A reminder: Normal Boards.ie rules such as those outlined in the Terms of Use apply here in addition to the above. This includes rules about spam, and any unsolicited advertising (excluding only one certain specific thread, which has its own rules and limitations) will be treated as spam and if done in what appears to be in bad faith (spam in old threads, spam from new accounts or one-post-wonders) the account in question will be infracted and likely banned.

And no, not reading the rules is not a viable defense, nor is it in regards to the two special stickies with their own altered rules either. Please read and follow them before posting in the respective place :)
