Getting Pedestrian Crossing Installed - How is it Achieved?

    I'm just wondering what the criteria are for installing pedestrian lights and how people would go about it.

    It's brought about, specifically, by the junction of Parnell Street and Jervis Street where many people frequently cross to get to Cineworld. There would ofteen be ten or fiteen people darting across the road to get to the cinema, looking for a break in the traffic and, if it's not available, weaving through stalled cars. It's an accident waiting to happen.

    I accept that there's a pedestrian crossing further down the road, but that doesn't prevent the volume of pedestrian traffic here. Given there's already traffic lights at this junction, is it significantly difficult to get them upgraded to include a pedestrian crossing?

    If you wish to request Single/Double Yellow Lines, Traffic Calming, Speed Ramps/Cushions, Loading Bay, Permit parking, Yellow Junction Box, Traffic Signs, Pedestrian Signals, School Wardens etc. you should write to the Traffic Advisory Group/Council, Roads and Traffic Department, Civic Offices, Wood Quay Dublin 8 outlining the request and specifying the exact location.

    Such requests will be referred to the Traffic Advisory Group for examination and recommendation.
