What tablet do you have on which Android version? did it work previously? What is it saying when you try to download an app?

The Google Play store doesn't work on Android tablets running pre 3.0 Android OS as they don't meet the requirements.

You'll have to Google to see if there's a way to install it and get it working via root or else use 3rd party app stores like Amazon or getJar.
