I've an audition for Acting and Theatre course next week and I've received a letter from GCC stating that I must have two references for the interview. Does this mean just the references contact details or does it mean a written piece, I appreciate the help :)

In general, if it says "referees" it means names and contact details of two people willing to supply references; if it says "references" it means the actual written references.

That said, the distinction is not always fully observed in practice.

I would suggest you do your best to source the actual references if you can.
