Why is there one man and his dog in the audience of the World Cup?

Its not the only tournament where the turnout is very poor in China either.

As I understand it the events take place in the conference rooms of Western style 5* hotels, which aren't the kind of place that the Chinese snooker fan would gravitate to. Added to this the price per session for a ticket is at the high end.
The audience appears to be mainly a TV audience, sometimes in excess of 100 Million, so it makes sense to have games on the Chinese time zone even if the attentance in the auditorium isn't great.
Perhaps its something World Snooker should look at, and try to find the Chinese equivalent of working class auditoriums like the Guild Hall Preston or York Hall Bethnal Green. Or maybe Chinese people have decided its a better TV sport than live sport (largely true imo).

Because its a myth that Chinese people like snooker as much as is touted. They only have interest in watching their fellow countrymen. And being an audience member doesn't suit the Chinese at all. Did you ever see one who cant fidget, stand up, chat away or abstain from using their mobile. They don't like the audience rules the Chinese.

That tends to be my impression also.
