Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    At least they have sub loop unbundling in Midletown unlike about a mile south west of it :(

    The Cable and Wireless fibre installed some years back runs from Armagh to Monaghan ...and then to Dublin .

    Net1 use this fibre , It roughly follows the N2 I think .

    Then again it could be the new Hibernia Atlantic fibre ....Project Kelvin

    Midletown may have two live fibre networks as well as sub loop unbundling .

    I believe that this is the fibre

    Bytel Broadband link between Belfast and Dublin

    The Bytel project provided an additional 2.5 GB service between Belfast and Dublin. There are breakout points in Dundalk, Drogheda, Armagh and Newry, The project is price competitive for the leased line business and has removed the border as an international barrier. A backhaul link has also been created from Monaghan via Armagh for the Monaghan Metropolitan Area Network (MAN).

    Don't tell me there are 3 lit fibres between Armagh and Monaghan now :eek: ...or did Bytel take an IRU on one of the other two ....but never mind.

    We Don't peer with anybody by fibre in Monaghan - think that's another company who have unbundled the telephone exchange in Middleton.
    All our peering are via 3 x high Licensed Microwave links from Dublin to Louth.

    The Irish government had the opportunity to have the Nova Scotia cable terminated on the West Coast but declined and so it went to NI (Portrush). Now they will have the cheek to try and claim some credit for it.
