    http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Download malwarebytes. Run it. It might take a while to do. If it finds no malware you'll need to do a scan in safe mode.

As an aside, did you recently add any extensions in chrome. If so disable them one by one, close chrome, reopen and see if the problem goes away. Maybe try this first.

Is there any way to set up my computer to delete any cookies any time I switch it on/off.

    Cheers.

Use Private browsing. Deletes them all when you finish.

What browser are you using. With firefox you go to tools-options-privacy. In their click the box for cookies and click "delete when I close firefox" For other browsers its different.

    @looksee
Private browsing is a feature that deletes all history, login's and cookies upon exit. Just imagine that mr/mrs looksee's birthday was coming up and you wanted to buy them something. In the past people have given the game away on shared comps by leaving stuff in the history or search fields. With private browsing it clears everything when you close the browser. A recent study found that private browsing was used 85% of the time by men surfing porn. (The other 15% are liars:D).

Bit in brackets added by me.

Go into tools(small cog in top right corner). Click 'internet options'. In the general section under 'browsing history' click 'delete'. a new window will open up, you need to untick the top box 'preserve Favourites website data' , then click delete and the window disappears. Then on Browsing history tick the box 'delete browsing history on exit' then click 'apply' and then 'ok'. That should be it.

Jaysus they really have it buried. That's sorta permanent until you undo it.

Inprivate Browsing anyway if you want to go this way instead.
    Windows 8 (same really)

Why do you want to delete it anyway K, handy to have it remember stuff.

Just something I have always done manually. Thought it would be handier to set it up to do it automatically. Habit as much as anything I suppose.

If your the only person using the computer you don't need to do it every time. Just download Ccleaner http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download and run it once or twice a week. If you download it and need help post here and i can talk you through it. Very very good programme to have anyway.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,591 ✭✭✭Kat1170

Yes I'm the only one using this computer. I will check that programmer out. I found the InPrivate stuff under 'Safety tab' not 'Tools tab' just in case anyone else is looking for it and has same set up as me.

As I said it is mostly habit, but also I personally hate when, for example, the ad banners in Boards or Ebay show me things I may have searched over the last few days. I live alone so it has nothing to do with anyone else seeing them, more it is just too much Big Brother for my liking. Thanks for all the help though. As I like saying , you learn something new every day. Cheers :):)

My heart is broken, have lost my constant companion, somehow deleted the newstalk icon from my iphone and can't listen to it anymore, heartbreaking especially as I wake up at about 4.30 every morning and use the playback feature, I can't reinstall cos keeps telling me it is there, but I can't access it because the icon is gone. Would love any help anyone can give me.

Perhaps its just moved to a different screen rather than being deleted,
Swipe the screen as far left as you can untill you see the search option and type newstalk, it should appear if installed.

If it doesnt open up the app store and search for news talk, if it says open its installed and if i says install then click install and it should redownload

Or rather swipe left until you get to spotlight search, and then try find it! Also try sync the phone and try see if the app is on the list of installed apps on your phone. (Click on the name of your phone in iTunes, then go to the 'apps' tab.)

In Windows updates I get updates for 64bit and 32bit systems. My computer runs a 64bit system. My question is .... is there any point in me downloading the 32bit updates. If not how do I get rid of them, have searched and can't find any delete button. I am running Win7. Cheers

Frankly your better off ignoring all that. Have it do all your windows updates automatically and windows will sort everything out itself. If you don't need the update, windows won't download them. You still need 32bit updates (I could be corrected on this however)

Sorry if I'm getting in the way. I'll put this up and hopefully someone might be able to answer it at some stage. I took a photo of a scene, but it took two shots to get the whole picture. Is it possible to knit them together in Photoshop Elements? I'm not very experienced in Photoshop but I can work out very simple stuff thanks to (very simple) Youtube videos. Any information appreciated.

  • Registered Users Posts: 28,046 ✭✭✭✭looksee

Afaik it can be done automatically in later editions of Photoshop, I am not sure which number though, I never got that posh! Its quite easy to do it manually though.

Put the two pictures on a canvas big enough to take the two. Move the one on the upper layer so that it overlaps the lower one, then increase the transparency of the top layer (little slider at the top of the levels pallet) until you can see through it. Line up the pics looking 'through' the top one till you have a match. You may have to do a little bit of rotation to make an exact match. When they are overlapping so they match bring the transparency of the top one back to normal. Use a big soft eraser brush and just swipe down to remove the edge of the top overlap and the pictures will blend. Flatten the image and crop to make the edges even. Thats it!

Thanks Looksee. I will need all my faculties in tip top form to get through all that but never daunted, will try it hopefully without pulling out my hair! I think our version is 6 so, ould!

If you can't get it sorted then you could give me both files and I'll photomerge them in Photoshop.
There are some free downloads specifically for merging photos if you want to go down that route. I've not used them so recomendations.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

Ta OG, might not have to do that now though as hopefully will get some help to do it.

You probably have the 32 bit versions of those programs installed, actually you have MS Office installed, right?

    anyway

Open powerpoint or any Office program
click on the File menu (top left)
then go down & select help

under about Microsoft whatever you opened
you should see a version number, with the type of bits used in brackets after it.
    Something like: 11.0.3344.2334 (32 bit)

if your using the 32 bit version of office, that's why you're getting the 32 bit updates

post what version it is anyway - just the bit version

Yep, it's coming up as 32-bit version as you said above. Cheers.

could somebody please help me or point me in the right direction.

I cant access my hotmail account from this Pc.But I can access it from other devices.

I can get to the hotmail page. then I have to type in my email address and password.I then get a dialog box that says
Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?
It then goes on to say
this webpage contains content that will not be delivered using a secure HTTPS connection, which could comprimise the security of the entire page.
I then have 2 option boxes. Yes or No.
I always click yes. But I am just brought back to the Hotmail home page.

I have noticed that there is a padlock up in the address bar. At the padlock it says "microsoft cooperation" and then it says "identified by verisign".

I would appreciate any help (in laymans terms)with this matter. I have trawled extensively through the web to try and rectifiy the problem but I am not having any luck or the answers are too technical full of jargon and numbers I dont understand.
