Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Before I start doing any research, I was wondering what is the logical process when building a house - i.e. when to engage which professional.

    If one were to build on a family land, what needs to happen to kick off the process?
    Engage an architect
    Submit Planning application
    Once approved, engage with a builder & a rectifier
    Finalize mortgage application for approval

    Where can one find a Building a house for Dummies guide :)

    Buy it in hard print form only.

    Then download the building regulations part A-M. Free on the Dept. Of Environment website.

    Tbh, talk to a bank earlier (assuming you need one). No point it spending all that time effort and money if a mortgage is unlikely to be forthcoming...

      make sure land can be accessed and serviced and can be built on
    1. get clean title to the land in your name.
    2. organise the funds
    3. this will drive your building budget

    “I can’t pay my staff or mortgage with instagram likes”.
