You should choose what ever language you feel your most attracted to. Choosing one language that is more widely spoken over a language which you feel most drawn to would be a mistake as you will might lose interest when it gets tough and its not easy to learn another language so it will be tough.

If its purely for business however go with what is most useful in where you want to base yourself.

For pleasure go with what sounds the nicest to you and the culture that your most attracted to. Theres no point of learning what is most widely spoken if its not what you really wanted to learn the most. Learn first what you love then second what is more spoken, would be a lot easier ;)

    COBOL
People might be laughing but tbh COBOL is still used a lot even today (I think JCL is also used still).
Mostly by banks and large corps that doesn't want to upgrade, and why should they as long as it's working.
    IDENTIFICATION DIVISION.
    PROGRAM-ID.     HELLOWORLD.

    ENVIRONMENT DIVISION.
    CONFIGURATION SECTION.
    SOURCE-COMPUTER. IBM-370.
    OBJECT-COMPUTER. IBM-370.
    DATA DIVISION.
    FILE SECTION.
    PROCEDURE DIVISION.
    MAIN-LOGIC SECTION.
    BEGIN.
DISPLAY "Hello world!" LINE 15 POSITION 10.
    STOP RUN.
    MAIN-LOGIC-EXIT.
    EXIT.

On topic, Japanese or Chinese are good languages to know if you plan a future in global business.

Well it depends on context but binary makes more sense in this instance.

    62 69 6E 61 72 79 I think.

Very true. California state had to re-hire their cobol/rpg engineers as it was turning out to be too complicated and costly to migrate their old systems plus they are even re-writing some of their older systems in cobol.
