What will happen in a years time when all these e-pass batteries run flat

    The E-pass tags to be used for the M50 are based on "active" RFID system in other words they must carry a battery to power the radio transmitter. It will be funny and chaotic in a few years time when the batteries in tens of thousands of these new devices start to run flat. :D

    Will everyone then be arrested for Toll evasion? :confused:

    The batteries last in the region of TEN years, not one, in a modern active tag.

    Just looked it up, "e-TAGs use a special battery that will last about five years under normal operating conditions". Maybe these tags are out dated already, :D
