Guys, I saw a boat (c. 20ft) on the road yesterday on what looked like a trailer with no springs. the car was driving slowly and carefully, but I was surprised to see it nonetheless. Would it be normal or ok to move a boat on a trailer with no springs?

Most smaller boat trailers work with spring loaded rubber bushels built into the axel so there would be no sign of springs on bigger boats they might have fixed axels on launching trailers that just do short slow trips they put low air pressure in the tyres to help soften the load. If you are doing any sort of speed with a fixed axel and hit a pothole you could be saying good bye to your boat.
