World War 3.

All the signs suggest its imminent. USA is pushing its troops into Pakistan. There is mounting tension between the Kurds and Turks. All signs signal an attack on Iran to only be a matter of time. Over to the east, there is growing tension between N.Korea and S.Korea. China is becoming stronger by the day and will soon be challenging USA economically. While the west is getting more broke by the day! There's also growing tensions between India and Pakistan over the Kashmir issue. And there's the eternal dispute between Palestine and Israel which can be the trigger point that sets off this new global war.

Couple this with the fact Obama just signed for the largest military budget US history of over $800billion.

Looks like the stage is set for WW3.

What do you think might happen? What would the world be like if WW3 does take place?

Its definitely not going to be like WW2 where the Allied and Axis were pretty much equally matched on power and technology. The stage is very different now. USA is extremely powerful and technological advanced but at the same time extremely broke as well and its advanced technology doesn't really seem to be that effective against guerilla tactics of the resistance they're facing. And then there's China which can always turn the tables around.

So what do you think will happen?

USA are in no position to fight. They can't even fight some insurgents in Iraq never mind a full scale war. And China completely owns their economy.

All the actors are in place and the stage is set.One thing that is bothering is the decline of the west.What is next if not world war 3? Descend into african status?

There is plenty of irish in the british army, we would do our part like we always have, but unfortunately the irish people that fight don't get that much recognition from their own country because of it being the british army.

US Defence Secretary Robert Gates has announced a $78bn (£50.3bn) military budget cut, including a move to scrap a $13bn plan for amphibious vehicles.

If they had any inkling of escalating military action this is the last thing they would do!

N. Korea won't but USA could.
All it needs is a trigger.

In WW2 while Hitler was invading France and Poland, Japan on the other side of the world was invading China, Korea and all those pacific nations.
USA got involved in both those wars.

What I see is going to happen is when (and yes, its only a matter of time if you follow the nature of the events taking place) USA decides to attack Iran, Iran is going to start backing the "insurgents" and the people resisting US forces in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and basically wherever US attacks in the middle east.

China is going to be key here. If it decides to support Iran or USA in the war.
Pakistan would also be playing a key role here because its got the nukes.

And Israel-Palestine will be the trigger for this. Probably Israel is going to launch another attack on Palestine. Iran will say, that's it, we're gonna kick the Jews out of the Palestinian lands. Israel will force US to retaliate with launching an attack on Iran and thus starting WW3.

An invasion of Iran has been 'just around the corner' for 5 years at this stage.
Worst case scenario is we get another cold war with the US and China.

Doubt it ,China makes everything for the US and the west.They can pretty much tell the west what to do these days.

Of course the US want another world war, its the only way for the successful capitalists to get rid of a couple of million bums and potential prison users that are only a burder to them .

See they need a shed load of serfs to do the dirty work(wipe their ass) for them but when the serf population becomes too big they just send them to war in other peoples countries to get rid of the excess.

See the eejits doing the work for them are so easily led that they believe what they are being told, crazy stories about God and all that.

Yes but back then we were just a small part of a large world power who had an active interest in going to war. Thankfully we're an independent nation now.

There wont be another world war, all the worlds powers are too financially or economically dependent on each other. Russia (not really an economic power, but still have nukes and a large army), China, USA, Japan, the EU and India are more concerned about their business interests and trade relations to start fighting each other. Its more likely that the world will be ruled by multinational corporations (if it isn't already) than by any nation winning a war.

That said, if there is a new world war id say the results could be "1984" style, large powers, too large to defeat each other fighting over the undeveloped nations to use as a workforce.
