Do you have to have proper internet to use a tablet?

Or can you tether from your phone?

Tethering from the phone seems to be ok with the laptop but can't seem to get it on my new tablet.

I am using a Symbian phone with an application called JoikuSpot which allows you to share your connection with other devices. It works fine with the laptop.

It might be the phone. I do have sony ericsson play, I think its an ice cream sandwich but can't use that right now to tether as its sent off to get fixed. I should have it back tomorrow but can't wait. Someone tell me this phone will do and I didn't waste my money on a tablet?

JoikuSpot gives you what is known as an internet 'hotspot', it should work with the tablet, I've never had a problem connecting from other devices to a Nokia 3G phone running JoikuSPot.
