Hey all - If you have any knowledge of/connection to Ardmore, Co Waterford and you're interested in entering a summertime song contest with 500 quid and a studio recording session up for grabs, here are all the details.

    http://www.ardmorepatternfestival.ie/news/208-song-for-ardmore-2013.html

We ran this last year as part of the 'Ardmore Pattern Festival' and it was a great night. The songs have to have some connection to Ardmore as you'll see in the rules. (Sorry, I know that'll rule many people out, but it's the theme of the whole thing, so we're gonna stick with it.)

The contest is particularly suited to singer/songwriter types - three of last years finalists were solo singers using accoustic guitars (+ backing track on one occasion). On the night of the final we don't have the resources to mic up full bands - you'll see towards the end of the rules what we can do re sound on the night - so if you do want to recreate a 'full band' sound it would have to be done using a backing track.

The entries received were largely 'spare bedroom' recordings and our judges had no issues whatsoever with looking beyond the recording quality and listening to the song behind it.

Anyway, if you're interested, just download a form from the link above.

    Thanks all.
