    Hello all,

Today I saw one of my favourite cars of my childhood-driving past along with all of the usual cars of today.Twas the Ford Escort from 1981/1982-the four door saloon which was kinda rounded off in shape at the back and the front.I couldn't stop lookin at it as it drove past-I hope the driver didnt notice as he would have been wondering why I was staring.A few months ago I saw somebody driving a Ford Fiesta from early to mid 80s,remember the one with the really loud engine?

I was just wondering if any of ye still see a few of these retro cars these days?Just thought to meself twas great to see them still goin strong!!

Seen a Ford Anglia a while ago, it would have been from the late 60's.

Had one of these cars myself back in the '90s.:)

They were just old bangers then. Rust & the soon to be introduced NCT killed off nearly all the survivers.

On topic. Fiat Unos. The place was littered with these yokes not so long ago.

    Haven't seen one in years...

My friend's dad had this car many moons ago and it was so cute! His car was more mustard coloured than this.

I read recently Nissan are planning on reviving the Datsun!

The roads are seriously lacking cool cars these days.

There is a thread on the Classic Car forum just for this subject!

Someone in Waterford is running a 1981 Toyota Starlet and it looks and sounds pretty good.

On a short holiday in Oughterard/Connemara at the moment, and a couple of evenings ago I saw a 1988 Volkswagen Jetta on the go,saw a Fiat 127(1977 to 1984 model) drive through Spiddal yesterday, and only today a 1986 Toyota 4 door saloon(dunno what model) drove past me-looking and sounding in mint condition.

There's a UK site that tells you how many cars are left of any make/model- of course it relates to UK only but will give you an idea of how rare the car is compared to others

A friend's folks had one too - same colour too.

All I remember is a cool looking dashboard/speedometer and thick super comfy car seats.

Saw a 1987 Volksvagen Passat today and a Volvo from I think early 80s yesterday.

Jeez they really made those cars big and long....

A good few of those cars are imports from the uk and elsewhere, a ZV or 'County' reg number plate is the giveaway.

Most original Irish reg cars either rusted away, fell apart or were driven into the ground.
