Very sorry to hear about all of the dogs who posters here have lost. It's horrible to lose pet who's been a member of your family and such a loyal friend, but at least you can all have some solace in knowing that you gave your pets great lives, and kept them comfortable when they needed you most.

Very sad post, but it's great to see how much care there was for your dog, and the others mentioned here. I think it's much harder on people when it is sudden rather than when you know your dog is old and starting to go. The shock of that must be very difficult to deal with. You did the best for your dog, so don't have any doubts about that.

    RIP King.:(

He sounded like an amazing dog and you were both very lucky to have each other.
Hope the pain eases for you soon and im sure King is running free at Rainbow Bridge.

So sorry to read about King. I know it's no consolation right now but there will come a time when you'll be able to think about him without sadness and remember all the happy times you had together.

From time to time, people tell me,
"lighten up, it's just a dog,"
or, "that's a lot of money for just a dog."
They don't understand the distance travelled,
the time spent, or the costs involved for
    ..."just a dog."
Some of my proudest moments have come about with
    "just a dog."
Many hours have passed and my only company was
    "just a dog,"
but I did not once feel slighted.
Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by
    "just a dog,"
and in those days of darkness,
the gentle touch of "just a dog"
gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.
If you, too, think it's "just a dog,"
then you will probably understand phases
like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or
    "just a promise."
"Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence
of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy.
"Just a dog" brings out the compassion and
patience that make me a better person.
Because of "just a dog" I will rise early,
take long walks and look longingly to the future.
So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog"
but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams
of the future, the fond memories of the past,
and the pure joy of the moment.
"Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and
diverts my thoughts away from myself and the
    worries of the day.
I hope that someday they can understand that
    it's not "just a dog"
but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps
me from being "just a man."
So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog."
just smile, because they "just don't understand."

    Sorry for your loss

All I can say Tony is your not alone & it does get easier! As said before you'll remember him for the clown he was & just laugh! Time is a great healer, RIP King

I am so sorry to hear about your boxer babe.

I have 4 boxers and fell in love with the breed after getting my first one 5 years ago, knowing all their problems I still went and got another 4 as I love the breed so much and fortunely there are so many bad things going against such a wonderful breed.

I really really feel for you and this thread has brought more than one tear to my eyes.
