I've tried on sun holidays, etc and in Ireland plenty of times but the results are mixed, poor visiblity, not many features or fish, etc

Do anyone have a list or map of good snorkling locations around Ireland

Asked around and got a good few suggestions:

"Would recommend Killary, Old Head in Mayo, Keem Bay in Achill and Dugort also in Achill. All sheltered with loads to see."

"My personal favourite is Garnish Pier, near Allihies, West Cork (you turn off the road to the right as you head towards the Dursey Island cable car). There is a little sheltered harbour with easy access to the water via the slip. The water is beautifully clear and there is loads of life. Irish grid ref V522428, or 51.61919N 10.13381W. It's a fabulous location - lovely sandy beaches, sheltered water, all ideal for kids if the snorkeller has a non-snorelling family! And the scenery is breath taking! The Dursey Island cable car is always worth a look too.

Another good spot in West Cork is Kilkrohane. Again a sheltered harbour with easy access to the water from the slip. Irish grid ref V823371, or 51.57490N, 9.69694W.

Nohoval Cove is probably the best snorkel within easy reach of Cork city. Access is across rocks, which can be tricky. But there are lovely gullies between the stacks and a fabulous swim-through in a small enclosed area to the east of the cove. Grid ref for parking area is W733514, or 51.71460N, 8.38527W."
