Hi guys,
Apologies - I thought the thread had died and never saw the notification.
Thanks so much for all your help!
The knobs are 36mm in diameter.
Am attaching a pic of radio part it connects to, it appears to be press on (but may have been attached using glue as some of the know stayed attached when it broke).
I can see very small text on the second (Change) and third (tuning) knobs alright. Now maybe the others are replacement knobs already if they don't have writing on them, I don't know.
But certainly if anyone has one they'd be willing to sell I'd be delighted to get one.

The knobs stick to the metal shaft with time and break easily, but a very small amount of superglue and press hard makes very good repairs.

The knobs on that model pye are push on with a squared locater section on the shaft and are retained with a cirular spring clip

Unfortunately I don't have the knob so I can't try sticking it back.
As far as I can tell there aren't grooves or anything that would indicate a screw on knob for that particular one.

I have one that will fit your set,its 39mm diam,slightly bigger than the knobs you have but it will fit the spindle and you can turn it on/off at least.

I need four knobs for a Pye p28 i'm restoring but i'll cast them as its impossible to find replacments,the sizes do vary from model to model but the spindle diam is 99.9% the same size for all 50/60s pyes. Email your address and i'll drop it in the post

Just wanted to let you all know that I am sorted - thanks so much to Paud, it's now as good as new.
I really do appreciate all the help everyone gave, and their time in replying. It's my grandfathers old radio and as such has massive sentimental value for me.
